Comic Story (9 pages) My Foolish Pride
Synopsis: Bank teller Grace, who supports her mother and two young brothers on her salary, accepts a date from wealthy Reid. Grace breaks off their relationship and quits her job after her mother suffers a stroke. Grace refuses to have her mother become a charity patient at the “welfare hospital.” She also turns down gifts from the local woman’s group chaired by Reid’s mother. Grace later gets a job as a waitress in a diner and runs into Reid. Reid’s mother says her group doesn’t offer charity, just a helping hand from “neighbors.” Reid and Grace reconcile.

Lanny explains he set Diane up to fail, so she’d marry him and forget her acting career.

Synopsis: Betty marries TV station manager Leslie. She becomes jealous of Leslie’s assistant Valerie, whose advice Leslie takes seriously, while relegating Betty to household duties. Betty finally gives her husband an ultimatum, threatening to leave him if he doesn’t fire Valerie. The problem is resolved when Valerie quits; she loves Leslie but knows he only cares for his wife.

Synopsis: Jan is stranded at a summer camp for boys when her bus breaks down and the camp is quarantined for measles. She pitches in to help camp director Brent and they become friends. Brent’s rich friend Johnny Barrows shows up for a visit. Jan sets her cap for Johnny but realizes she really loves Brent. Brent reveals that Johnny is his chauffeur, and it’s Brent who is the millionaire. Jan and Brent embrace.
